Sweet Breakfast Congee

Our Sweet Breakfast Congee is not only super beneficial for new mums, but for all women at various stages of life + the kids love it too!

This one-pot-wonder is a healing, nourishing breakfast which has never been easier to make. It also makes many serves for your keep refrigerated and can be reheated.





  • 6 cups water
  • Fresh ginger (optional),
  • Coconut milk or yoghurt (optional)



  • Black Rice

  • Da Zao (Organic Chinese red date)^*

  • Gou Qi Zi (Goji Berry)*

  • Long Yan Rou (Dried Longan Fruit)*

  • Yi Zhi Ren (Dried Cardamom Pods)*

  • Brown Sugar

  • Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark)*.

In a large saucepan add water and bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer. Add entire packet contents and simmer for 1-1.5 hours or until all liquid has gone and it is thick (pudding-like).

Stir the congee regularly. You may need to add more water if it gets too dry. Once the congee is soup-like, ladle into a bowl. Top congee with remaining goji berries and ginger slices. Store leftovers in fridge and reheat over stove for a quick and easy breakfast.

Tip: For a thicker and more decadent breakfast, add coconut cream or coconut yoghurt when serving. Enjoy for breakfast daily!
